Who am I?
My name is Todd Herzberg, a printmaker who is making original handmade relief, & lithographic prints that celebrate the absurdity of modern life in Nashville, Tennessee.
I was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan, received my BFA from Central Michigan University in 2012 and my MFA from the University of Kentucky in 2018. After graduating, I was the Assistant Drawing Professor at Murray State University from 2018-2022,
I've worked predominantly in the processes of drawing, relief printing, lithography, and animation to create complex stories with absurdist overtones. My work has been exhibited in over 100 exhibitions, both locally, nationally, and internationally. -
What is Printmaking?
Printmaking is the process of transferring an image from a matrix to another surface, allowing the ability to create multiple original works of art. Print processes include, but aren’t limited to, woodcut, relief, etching, lithography, and screen-printing.
Within printmaking, the print is the original artwork, not a copy of a separate work. All Decoy Press’ artwork is hand-drawn/designed specifically to be made to be prints.
All of Decoy Press’ prints are 100% hand-made and hand-printed in Nashville, TN, using a custom-built etching press made by the Madison Corporation (Ontario, Canada) in 1997.
